After careful consideration, CDC is sunsetting SimpleReport on August 31, 2026. This decision is part of CDC’s long-term strategy to focus on modernizing and streamlining data exchange.

  • August 31, 2026: SimpleReport service ends and patient and test result data stored in SimpleReport will no longer be available to view or download

Next Steps for Current SimpleReport Users

  1. Confirm expectations with public health jurisdictions: Reporting requirements and preferred submission pathways vary by state or local jurisdiction. Each jurisdiction is responsible for determining the reporting approach(es) it would like facilities to use after SimpleReport service ends.

  2. Review and validate reporting practices: This transition period is a good opportunity to confirm that internal workflows align with each jurisdiction’s current reporting expectations (e.g., what should be submitted, when reporting is required, and which locations or programs should report).

  • What will happen to data I have saved in SimpleReport?

  • Do I need to delete my account?
    • All user accounts will be deleted at 5:00PM ET August 31, 2026. You do not need to take any action to delete your account.
  • Do I still need to report?
    • SimpleReport’s sunset does not change your reporting obligations. If you’re unsure whether you still need to report, your public health authority is the best place to get a clear answer. You can confirm current requirements by contacting your PHA or checking your jurisdiction’s public health website.
  • How should I report instead?
    • Contact your jurisdiction to confirm reporting requirements and the reporting methods available.
  • Is CDC offering any help migrating to another reporting tool?
    • Given that these reporting options and requirements are subject to change and vary by jurisdiction, CDC cannot provide concrete guidance on changes to reporters’ workflows.
